GSO's Silencer Shop Kiosk

02/21/2024

Suppressors are incredible tools with a range of benefits.  That’s why GSO is getting a Silencer Shop Kiosk, the first and only one in Laramie, to streamline and take as much red tape out of the process as possible.

The Science of Suppressors

Typically, there are two noises that are the loudest when a firearm is shot: the rapid expansion and subsequent cooling of gas from burnt gunpowder, and the projectile breaking the sound barrier, creating a sonic boom.

Suppressors quiet a firearm by slowing that gas expansion through “baffles” (chambers cut inside the suppressor) and absorbing and dissipating heat at a much more controlled rate.

If you are interested, this video will give a quick overview on the science behind suppressors.

The Benefits of a Suppressor

  • Accuracy
    • By controlling the flow and expansion of gas, suppressors allow for more consistent shots, making the shooter more accurate.
    • This improvement of accuracy can lead to more humane hunts, and a better shooting experience overall.
  • Recoil Reduction
    • The limiting of gas expansion also reduces recoil by containing the kinetic energy of that rapidly expanding gas inside the suppressor, rather than allowing that energy to be transferred (sometimes painfully) into the shooter.
  • Noise Reduction
    • In a tactical application, suppressors limit the shooter’s signature by quieting and eliminating muzzle flash, protecting the shooter in high-stress environments.
    • In a hunting application, suppressed shots allow the shooter to take multiple shots at multiple targets, making suppressors essential tools for predator control.
    • For target shooting, suppressors make the shooting experience safer for everyone around by making firearms much closer to, if not hearing safe.

The Suppressor Application Process

The National Firearms Act of 1934 (the NFA) limited citizen’s abilities to purchase suppressors. The process today, however, has never been easier. Silencer Shop has streamlined the process and laid out an easy path to follow using their Kiosk:

  1. 1) Scan your fingerprints.
  2. 2) Get a Passport Photo taken.
    1. Steps 1 and 2 are needed for suppressor application form (Form 4) to be submitted.
  3. 3) Create an account and select GSO as your dealer of choice.
    1. Our prices are set as low as allowed.
  4. 4) Pick out the can you want using their shopping capability and order it. It’ll ship straight to us.
  5. 5) Pay your $200 tax stamp.
    1. You can pay for this using the Kiosk, just add a Tax Stamp to your cart and link it to your suppressor.
  6. 6) Make an ATF EForms account. This is the ATF website that the Form 4 will be submitted to.
  7. 7) Once the Suppressor shows up to us, we will call you into the shop, certify the paperwork, and submit the Form 4.

That’s it. The wait is the hardest part.

Don’t know what suppressor would work best for which application? No sweat, the GSO Team would be more than happy to help you find the right fit for your needs. Stop bye and ask us about suppressors, the kiosk, or anything else firearm related. We got your back.
